Biography
Rachel S. Baard studied theology at the University of Stellenbosch in her native South Africa before completing a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. She taught humanities at Villanova University in Pennsylvania for several years before joining Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia as Assistant Professor of Theology and Ethics, where she also serves as Director of the Master of Arts in Public Theology Program.
She is the author of Sexism and Sin-Talk: Feminist Conversations on the Human Condition (WJK, 2019), and editor of The Political Theology of Paul Tillich (Lexington, 2024). Her current book project focuses on developing a constructive Protestant perspective on Mary.
