Gratitude for those who led us in worship
Shape note singing, preachers who break into song, litanies both spontaneous and carefully crafted, learning Lakota words and the burning of tobacco sacred to indigenous people on whose land we gathered, were among the many meaningful elements of worship during the Festival of Homiletics 2023 in Minneapolis. We honor the contributions of the musicians, liturgists, and emcees at both Central Lutheran and Westminster Presbyterian. We are grateful to the congregations at both venues for opening their space to the Festival, with such hospitality.
“O Christ, the Healer” led by @jonathanrundman & @LowellMichelson. Their beautiful rendition of this old shape note song was given even more power and beauty by the singing of the congregation. #Homiletics2023 @FestHomiletics pic.twitter.com/FpmDZtW7dT
